To clarify the relationship between the neurophysiological characteristics of the occipito-parietal cortex and upper limb motor function
Efficacy
The effects of single-pulse transcranial magnetic stimulation (single-pulse TMS) of the posterior parietal cortex (PPC) on muscle activity in the contralateral upper limb during voluntary movement. Changes in muscle activity will be assessed using electromyography.
1. Neurophysiological interactions between the posterior parietal cortex (PPC) and the primary motor cortex (M1) during rest, as assessed using paired-pulse transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS).
2. Errors between the target trajectory and the actual finger trajectory in a visual tracking task using the fingers.

During voluntary movement, a single transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) pulse is delivered to the posterior parietal cortex (PPC). During stimulation, the subject moves the index finger of the right hand with a constant force, and muscle activity in the right hand is recorded using electromyography (EMG). The effects of PPC stimulation during movement on muscle activity are evaluated based on the resulting changes in muscle activity. At rest, we apply a double-pulse transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) to the posterior parietal cortex (PPC) and the primary motor cortex (M1). We record the electromyographic (EMG) responses elicited by stimulation of M1 and evaluate the neurophysiological interaction between the PPC and M1 by comparing the condition in which M1 is stimulated alone with the condition in which M1 is stimulated following PPC stimulation. We will conduct a visual tracking task in which participants move the index finger of their right hand in sync with a target waveform displayed on a monitor. We will calculate the error between the target waveform and the actual finger movement to evaluate finger motor function.

We will use the university's internal email system to notify undergraduate and graduate students of the call for research participants. We will accept as research participants only those students who express an interest in this study and have fully understood its content, and who voluntarily agree to participate in the experiment of their own free will. The eligibility criteria require participants to be between 18 and 27 years of age.
Participants with implanted metal devices (such as pacemakers), those with claustrophobia, and those with a history of seizures will be excluded from the study.
