Temporal error between imagined and actual walking duration (absolute error [AE] and constant error [CE]), assessed at Pre, immediately after treadmill walking (Mid), and after the rest period (Post).
Imagined walking duration, actual walking duration, and gait parameters during treadmill walking, including cadence and stride length. Imagined and actual walking durations are assessed at Pre, Mid, and Post, and gait parameters are assessed during treadmill walking.

High-definition transcranial direct current stimulation (HD-tDCS) is applied over the posterior parietal cortex, with the cathode at P3 and the anodes at CP1, CP5, PO3, and PO7. Active stimulation is delivered at 2 mA for 15 min during treadmill walking, followed by sham stimulation during the subsequent rest period.

Sham HD-tDCS is applied over the posterior parietal cortex using the same electrode montage as the active stimulation, with the cathode at P3 and the anodes at CP1, CP5, PO3, and PO7. Sham stimulation is delivered during both treadmill walking and the subsequent rest period.

A group-by-time interaction was observed for the absolute error (AE) between imagined and actual walking duration. AE decreased after treadmill walking in the Sham and tDCS-Rest groups, whereas no clear reduction was observed in the tDCS-Gait group. Imagined and actual walking durations decreased in all groups. Improvement in temporal correspondence between imagined and actual walking was attenuated in the tDCS-Gait group compared with the Sham and tDCS-Rest groups.

Sixty healthy young adults (31 males and 29 females) participated in the study. Mean age was 20.0 plus or minus 0.9 years and mean height was 163.6 plus or minus 7.9 cm.
Sixty participants were randomly allocated to three groups: Sham (n = 20), tDCS-Gait (n = 20), and tDCS-Rest (n = 20). All participants completed the experimental protocol, and all 60 participants were included in the analysis.
No serious adverse events were observed.
The primary outcome measures were the temporal errors between imagined and actual walking duration, including absolute error (AE) and constant error (CE). Secondary outcome measures included imagined walking duration, actual walking duration, and gait parameters during treadmill walking, including cadence and stride length. Imagined and actual walking were assessed at Pre, Mid, and Post.
