The purpose of this study was to compare heart rate responses during hand ergometer exercise performed in sitting, standing, and body weight supported standing positions in healthy young adults and to conduct a preliminary investigation of the physiological demands of exercise in the body weight supported standing position.

Hand ergometer exercise will be performed under sitting, standing, and body weight supported standing conditions.

Male and Female
Healthy adults
Individuals who have been advised by a physician to restrict exercise; those with cardiovascular disease, respiratory disease, or any other condition that may interfere with exercise participation; those receiving pharmacological treatment for hypertension or other conditions for whom the principal investigator determines that the safety of exercise cannot be adequately ensured; those with orthopedic or neurological conditions that interfere with standing or repetitive upper limb movements; those with a history of syncope, severe dizziness, anemia, or other conditions that may interfere with exercise participation; those with fever, poor physical condition, insufficient sleep, or other circumstances on the day of assessment that lead the investigator to judge that safe exercise participation is difficult; and those otherwise deemed inappropriate for study participation by the principal investigator or study staff.
