Primary outcomes

Change in executive function before and after walking, assessed using the Japanese version of the Trail Making Test (TMT-J) Part B immediately before and immediately after walking.

Key secondary outcomes

Change in mood before and after walking, assessed using the short form of the Profile of Mood States 2nd Edition (POMS 2) immediately before and immediately after walking.

Participants walk in an urban park for approximately 20 minutes in a single session. The walking intervention is performed once on the study day, accompanied by a research collaborator.

Participants walk on public roads surrounding the urban park for approximately 20 minutes in a single session. The walking intervention is performed once on the study day, accompanied by a research collaborator.

Key inclusion criteria

Community-dwelling adults aged 65 to <85 years who are able to walk independently.

Key exclusion criteria

Individuals who possess a Physical Disability Certificate, Mental Disability Certificate, or Rehabilitation Certificate.
