The purpose of this study is to evaluate the accuracy and clinical feasibility of non-contact respiratory and heart rate monitoring using millimeter-wave sensors mounted on a dental chair by comparing the measurements with those obtained using conventional monitoring devices.
Others
To evaluate the minimum observation time required for estimating respiratory rate and heart rate using millimeter-wave radar sensors and to compare their performance with that of piezoelectric sensors. In addition, the effects of vibrations from dental instruments and body movements on measurement accuracy will be investigated, and the feasibility of using these signals as an indicator of tidal volume will be explored.

Healthy adults who voluntarily provide written informed consent to participate in the study.
Symptomatic respiratory disease
Facial deformities that make placement of an anesthesia face mask difficult
Hypertension or treatment with antihypertensive medication (systolic blood pressure >=140 mmHg or diastolic blood pressure >=100 mmHg)
Arrhythmia or tachycardia (heart rate >=100 beats/min)
Symptomatic atherosclerosis or coronary artery disease
Orthopedic disorders that make stair climbing difficult
Severe systemic diseases (including hepatic, renal, cerebrovascular, cardiovascular, and endocrine disorders) or severe psychiatric disorders
Pregnancy or possible pregnancy
Infectious diseases (e.g., hepatitis or syphilis)
Obesity (body mass index [BMI] >=30 kg/m^2)
Mobility, extensive caries, non-vital teeth, or ongoing treatment in the maxillary anterior region
Resin allergy
Dental phobia
Any condition judged by the principal investigator to make participation in the study inappropriate

This is a prospective observational study involving healthy volunteers. Respiratory rate and heart rate measured using millimeter-wave radar and piezoelectric sensors will be compared with those obtained using conventional monitoring devices under simulated dental treatment conditions. The effects of body movement, dental instrument vibrations, and observation time on measurement accuracy will be evaluated. Signal characteristics will also be explored.
