The objective of this retrospective cohort study is to investigate the effect of intraoperative amino acid administration on postoperative renal function in patients undergoing open abdominal aortic aneurysm repair. The primary outcome is the change in renal function on postoperative day 1 (eGFR or Cr), and the secondary outcome is the incidence of postoperative acute kidney injury.
Efficacy
Exploratory
Explanatory
Not applicable
Change in serum creatinine concentration from the preoperative value to postoperative day 1 (Cr: serum creatinine on postoperative day 1 minus preoperative serum creatinine).
Incidence of postoperative acute kidney injury (AKI) according to the KDIGO criteria.
Observational
| 20 | years-old | <= |
| Not applicable |
Male and Female
Adult patients who underwent open surgical repair for abdominal aortic aneurysm at our institution between January 2019 and December 2025.
1. Patients undergoing emergency surgery.
2. Patients with a preoperative serum creatinine level of 2.0 mg/dL or higher.
3. Patients receiving maintenance dialysis preoperatively.
4. Patients undergoing complex surgical procedures, such as renal artery reconstruction.

This is a single-center retrospective observational study of patients undergoing open abdominal aortic aneurysm repair. Data on patient characteristics, intraoperative amino acid administration and weight-adjusted amino acid dose (g/kg), aortic cross-clamp level and duration, and perioperative renal function will be collected from medical and anesthesia records. Postoperative renal function will be compared between patients who received and did not receive intraoperative amino acid administration, and the association between weight-adjusted amino acid dose and postoperative renal function will also be evaluated.
