This study examined methodology for static stretching (SS), a technique commonly used to improve muscle flexibility, applied to the gracilis muscle, an adductor of the hip joint.
The purpose of this study was to investigate how differences in knee joint angle affect changes in gracilis muscle flexibility during static hip abduction stretching, and to determine the most effective SS condition by evaluating multiple knee joint angle conditions

Key inclusion criteria
Participants were excluded if they had major orthopedic diseases in the lower limbs (hip, knee, and ankle joints) at the time of the experiment, a history of orthopedic conditions in the lower limbs, or motor paralysis caused by neurological disorders.
Key exclusion criteria
Participants were excluded if they had severe orthopedic diseases in the lower limbs (such as fractures or ligament injuries) or motor paralysis caused by neurological disorders at the time of the experiment.
