To examine the effects of radon hot spring bathing on objective and subjective stress indicators in middle-aged and older adults, compared to plain hot water bathing, and to verify its anti-stress effects.
Efficacy
The study involved 38 healthy middle aged and older adults. At the Ryuo Radon Hot Spring facility in Kai City, Yamanashi Prefecture, participants took 10 minute baths in both radon hot water and plain hot water at 39 degrees on the same day, and the effects were compared using a crossover design. Before and after each bath, we measured salivary amylase activity, Visual Analogue Scale, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, and pulse.
