Data sources and search strategy
A comprehensive literature search will be conducted to clarify end-of-life care provided in emergency departments.
Electronic databases to be searched will include Ichushi-Web (Japan Medical Abstracts Society), the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL) in the Cochrane Library, PubMed (MEDLINE), and PsycINFO (APA PsycInfo).
All studies published up to May 19, 2026 will be included. The search will be conducted using keywords related to "emergency department", "end of life", and "end-of-life care".
Selection of studies in included studies
Two review authors will independently check to ensure that studies meet the inclusion criteria. Any discrepancies in study selection will be resolved by discussion or discussion with a third author.
