Because the third SMS reminder overlapped with the COVID-19 pandemic, the groups assigned to receive two and three SMS reminders were combined for analysis. Compared with the no-reminder group, the one-postcard and one-SMS reminder groups had higher consultation rates (p < 0.001), with no significant difference between them (p = 0.624). The two-SMS reminder group had the highest consultation rate among all groups (p < 0.001).

National Health Insurance subscribers aged 40-74 years residing in Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture. As of July 2020, individuals who had not yet undergone the specific health checkup for fiscal year 2020 were included.
Health checkup vouchers were sent to all participants in May 2020. For both postcard and SMS reminders, the first reminder was sent in September 2020, and the second SMS reminder was sent in November 2020.
