This study aims to clarify the components of professionalism as perceived by generalist nurses working in acute care wards, and to gain fundamental insights into structuring professionalism concepts and constructing educational support models.

The insights gained from extracting the components of expertise recognized by generalist nurses and clarifying the characteristics of nurses' perceptions of expertise will be used to design, test, and exploratory evaluate educational support programs.

Primary outcomes

Meaningful words and descriptions are extracted from interview records and coded. Next, related codes are integrated and categorized to reveal common concepts and structures contained within participants' narratives.
The resulting categories are integrated, organized, and classified with the conceptual model structured in the conceptual analysis of the first study, systematically capturing the components of clinical nurses' expertise in acute care wards.

Key inclusion criteria

Applicants must be employed in the acute care ward of a medical facility in Prefecture A that charges acute care general inpatient fee 1. Applicants must be full-time employees. Participants must have received a full written explanation of the research content and have given their consent. Gender is not a factor.

Key exclusion criteria

Nurses who hold specialist nurse or certified nurse qualifications, or who are currently enrolled in such educational programs, nurses who have completed or are currently enrolled in specific practice training, and nurses who hold positions such as head nurse or supervisor are excluded.
