The aim of this study is to determine the effects of a 24-week cosmetic intervention on physical, mental, and daily living functions of elderly women in need of care who live in the community.
Efficacy
handgrip strength, five times sit to sand test, timed up and go test, mini cog test, five item version of the geriatric depression Scale, EuroQol 5Dimention 3Level, tokyo metropolitan institute of gerontology index of competence.

The makeup care intervention is conducted once a week for 24 weeks. The makeup care intervention is performed by a beauty touch therapist certified by the Japanese Association of Nursing and Beauty Therapists, who performs skincare and makeup for each subject in accordance with the methods specified by the association. The same therapist is in charge each time, and each intervention takes about 30 minutes.
The control group receives no makeup care intervention and receives services performed at a regular day care service center.

Female
The subjects is older persons living in the community who use day-care services. Inclusion criteria are: (1) 65 years of age or older, (2) female, (3) those certified as requiring long-term care, and (4) those who have given consent for the study.
Exclusion criteria is (1) male, (2) under 65 years of age, (3) not certified as requiring long-term care, (4) with missing data, and (5) unable to give consent for the study.
