Key inclusion criteria
P:People with mental disorders, individuals diagnosed with mental illnesses, and cases suspected of having mental disorders (e.g., At-Risk Mental State [ARMS]).
C:Outreach support.
C:Community-based research conducted in Japan.
S:Survey-based studies (quantitative and qualitative), case reports, case series, and practice-based reports.
Key exclusion criteria
1:Services for older adults and/or dementia care.
2:Children or minors (under 18 years of age).
3:Studies targeting support providers (mainly attitude or awareness surveys).
4:Public assistance (social security).
5:Pre discharge home visits.
6:Conference abstracts.
7:Non peer reviewed publications (studies with an estimated length of fewer than five pages were excluded).
8:Review articles.
9:Activities of public health centers or public health nurses without involvement of mental disorders.
10:Maternal and child support, unless the mother has a mental disorder.
11:Scale development studies.
12:Studies not conducted in Japan.
13:Other studies (e.g., those not primarily targeting people with mental disorders or not primarily focusing on outreach support)

Other related information
This study was conducted by a team of ten researchers. The procedures were as follows.
First, a literature search was performed using relevant keywords, and duplicate records were removed.
Second, the researchers worked in pairs and independently screened the titles and abstracts based on predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria to identify eligible studies.Third, full-text reviews of the selected articles were conducted independently. In cases of disagreement regarding study quality assessment, discussions were held among all researchers, and the process was repeated until consensus was reached.Extracted data were organized into a standardized data extraction table for each study, including participant characteristics, study outcomes, setting, and details of the outreach intervention. The data were then analyzed descriptively.
