Primary outcomes

To investigate the prevalence (per 100,000 people) and incidence (per 100,000 person-years) of IPF, PPF, and non-progressive ILD by calendar year in Japan.

Key secondary outcomes

To investigate patient characteristics in patients with IPF, PPF, and non-progressive ILD in Japan.
To investigate mortality in patients with IPF, PPF, and non-progressive ILD by calendar year in Japan.
To investigate the proportion of each clinical ILD diagnosis in patients with PPF and non-progressive ILD in Japan.
To investigate the proportion of patients with PPF among patients with fibrosing ILD in each clinical ILD diagnosis in Japan.
To investigate patient characteristics in each clinical ILD diagnosis of patients with PPF and non-progressive ILD in Japan.
To investigate the distribution of PPF progression proxies met in patients with progression to PPF and the number of individuals meeting each criterion in Japan.
Exploratory objective:
To describe the proportions of patients with chronic cough among those with IPF, PPF, and non-progressive ILD in Japan.

Patients diagnosed with at least 2 fibrosing ILD codes in different months during the patient identification period
Patients aged 20 years or older on the index date
Patients for whom data for the 12 months prior to the index date can be extracted as baseline data
