This study aims to elucidate the effects of olfactory stimulation with essential oil extracted from Hinoki (Japanese cypress) wood on prefrontal cortex activity and autonomic nervous activity in healthy Japanese university and graduate students aged 20-29.
Efficacy
1) Prefrontal activity using near-infrared time-resolved spectroscopy
2) Sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous activity as indicated by heart rate variability
3) Heart rate
1) Profile of Mood State (POMS2 short form)
