The purpose of this study is to evaluate the educational effects of chest compression training using the VR emergency life-saving training system developed by the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Medicine, University of the Ryukyus, on the acquisition of chest compression skills. The system measures chest compression depth, rate, recoil (release), interruptions, and other parameters in real time and presents them to learners as numerical values and graphs. Specifically, this study aims to clarify the following four points: (1) how chest compression skills change before and after feedback based on objective measurements; (2) the association of participants' physical characteristics and upper-limb movement characteristics with their chest compression skills; (3) participants' subjective evaluation of the system as a learning support tool; and (4) whether the change in chest compression skills differs between the group that receives the feedback (intervention group) and the group that does not (control group). Point (4) is positioned as a secondary and exploratory objective.
Efficacy
Change in the chest compression score before and after feedback in the intervention group (comparison between the first and second 2-minute bouts of chest compressions)
1) Between-group difference (intervention minus control) in the change in chest compression score from the first to the second bout
2) Mean compression depth, compression rate, adequacy of chest recoil (compression release), hand position, and frequency and duration of interruptions
3) Time-series changes in upper-limb joint angles (elbow and wrist)
4) Questionnaire responses

Intervention group: After a first 2-minute bout of chest compressions using the VR emergency life-saving training system, participants receive feedback based on the system's measurements (intervention time: 15 minutes, provided individually to each participant) and then perform a second 2-minute bout of chest compressions. They then complete a questionnaire. The total time required per participant is 70 minutes.
Control group: After a first 2-minute bout of chest compressions using the VR emergency life-saving training system, participants wait for 15 minutes without being shown the measurements and then perform a second 2-minute bout of chest compressions. After the second bout, and before completing the questionnaire, they receive the same feedback as the intervention group (15 minutes). The total time required per participant is 85 minutes.
