Objectives

Narrative objectives1

Abdominal ultrasound examinations are performed to screen for lifestyle-related diseases; however, because the operator is required to manipulate the ultrasound probe while maintaining an unnatural posture for extended periods, numerous cases of musculoskeletal disorders have been reported, resulting in a high prevalence rate. To address these challenges, we have developed a robotic system that performs ultrasound examinations in place of the operator. In this study, we aim to verify the effectiveness of the control method we developed for a shadow-avoidance robotic arm, focusing on subcostal scanning of the right side, which is used to examine the gallbladder, liver, and kidneys.
