The purpose of this study is to evaluate an interprofessional education class based on a communication education program connecting healthcare professionals and Deaf people by examining changes in students' readiness for interprofessional learning before and after the class using the Japanese version of the Readiness for Interprofessional Learning Scale.

Primary outcomes

Change in the total score of the Japanese version of the Readiness for Interprofessional Learning Scale measured before and immediately after the interprofessional education class.

Key secondary outcomes

1) Changes in the total score of the Japanese version of the Readiness for Interprofessional Learning Scale by discipline.
2) The interaction between time point and discipline.
3) Descriptive classification of free-text responses regarding students' learning and perceptions of interprofessional collaboration.

Key inclusion criteria

Students participating in the interprofessional education class at Niigata University in 2026 who meet one of the following criteria:
1. Third-year nursing students in the School of Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, enrolled in Basic Seminar for Clinical Problem Solving
2. Third-year radiological technology students in the School of Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, enrolled in Practical Clinical Imaging
3. Fourth-year medical students in the School of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, enrolled in Interprofessional Collaboration

Key exclusion criteria

No individual exclusion criteria will be applied. Valid responses obtained from anonymous questionnaires at each time point will be included in the analysis.
