The treatment group received an exercise-based counseling program conducted by a counseling psychologist and a physical and health educator. This intervention is an exercise combined with counseling approach that consists of four components: intervention type, frequency of interventions per week, duration in weeks, and length of each session.

The people in the control group hadn't started their therapy by the time the members of the treatment group started.

Key inclusion criteria

To be eligible, the following conditions must be met:
1. Being a female administrator
2. Being a confirmed/permanent staff member in technical and vocational colleges in Southeast Nigeria
3. Meeting the cutoff scores of the measures
4. Being a mother/wife
5. Being physically fit

Key exclusion criteria

Those who were disqualified from participating in the study were due to the following ineligibility criteria:
1. Having participated in mental health rehabilitation and counseling in the last three months.
2. Unwillingness or unreadiness to participate in the study
3. Failing to complete the informed consent form

Results

The results indicated a significant improvement in reducing work-family conflict management among female technical and vocational female administrators who received the exercise-based counseling intervention. Time was also found to have a statistically significant effect on work-family conflict among female administrators. Furthermore, the follow-up assessment demonstrated that the effectiveness of the intervention was sustained over time in mitigating work-family conflict.
