This study aims to examine changes in cancer-related stigma among young adults with no prior cancer experience following a cancer education intervention, by comparing measurements taken before the intervention, immediately after, and one month later. In addition, the study evaluates changes in cancer-related knowledge and cancer literacy, and explores the characteristics of cognitive and attitudinal changes associated with the educational intervention.

Change in cancer-related stigma as measured by the Japanese version of the Cancer Stigma Scale (J-CASS) from baseline (T0) to 1 month post-intervention (T2)

In this study, an educational intervention aimed at improving cancer-related knowledge and literacy and reducing cancer-related stigma will be conducted among young adults. The intervention will be delivered face-to-face and will last approximately 45 minutes. It consists of a lecture and video-based materials covering basic knowledge of cancer, prevention and screening, cancer treatment and work-life balance, psychosocial aspects and experiences of cancer patients, and appropriate sources of cancer-related information. The intervention will be delivered once.

Key inclusion criteria

Students aged 18 to 35 years (university or vocational school students)
Individuals with no prior history of cancer
Individuals who are able to read and understand Japanese and complete the questionnaire
Individuals who provide informed consent to participate in the study

Key exclusion criteria

Individuals who are judged to have difficulty participating in the intervention or completing the questionnaire due to mental or physical conditions
Individuals deemed inappropriate for participation by the investigator
