Competitive swimming meets span long periods, with the number of races and their timing varying by athlete. When competing in multiple races in a single day, athletes must repeatedly perform high-intensity exercise with only short breaks in between. This requires them to manage their schedule while maintaining high concentration and physical condition. Therefore, efficiently replenishing energy and nutrients consumed within limited time frames and achieving rapid fatigue recovery are essential. While some athletes take amino acid supplements as one method, their effects on performance and fatigue recovery remain insufficiently verified. The possibility that these effects stem from a placebo effect based on the perception of having taken the supplements cannot yet be ruled out.
This study therefore examines the impact of amino acid supplement intake on competitive swimmers' performance through swim times and objective/subjective evaluations.
