NO
To evaluate the ampicillin (ABPC) susceptibility of microorganisms isolated from amniotic fluid and to assess antimicrobial susceptibility patterns, including new organisms emergence after antibiotics initiation.
Efficacy

Explanatory

The primary outcome was the proportion of pregnancies in which all cultured microorganisms were susceptible to ABPC. Cases were classified as ABPC-susceptible only when every isolate demonstrated susceptibility.
The secondary outcomes were:
(1) the susceptibility of ABPC-non-susceptible organisms (excluding Ureaplasma spp., M. hominis, and fungi) to other antibiotics;
(2) the interval from the initiation of antibiotic therapy to the detection of newly emerging organisms and their susceptibility to the administered agents; and
(3) the ABPC and GM susceptibility of microorganisms that were detected in the amniotic fluid of neonates who developed EONS.

Female
We reviewed singleton pregnancies that underwent amniocentesis for suspected intra-amniotic infection between August 2014 and October 2023.
The exclusion criteria included mechanical cervical dilation, induced labor or artificial rupture of membranes before sampling, intrauterine fetal demise, major fetal structural anomalies, and insufficient clinical data.
