The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of extending school lunch time by five minutes on plate waste and students' eating behaviors in junior high schools.

Key inclusion criteria
Second-year students of Junior High School A in Nankoku City
Students who usually eat school lunches provided at the school
Students present on both survey days and who participated in both the usual lunch duration and the extended lunch duration conditions
Students in good physical and mental health, attending regular school activities
Key exclusion criteria
Students absent on the survey day(s) or those who participated in only one of the two survey sessions
Students with missing data in primary outcomes or questionnaires (excluded from analysis)
