This study aimed to determine the appropriate timing for safe return to driving and the required wrist function in patients following volar locking plating for distal radius fractures. Driving ability was quantitatively assessed over time using a driving simulator and compared with data from healthy individuals.

This is an observational study aimed at determining the safe timing for resuming driving after distal radius fracture surgery by comparing the driving performance of patients with that of healthy adults over time using a driving simulator.

Pain at rest, during activity and steering operations; wrist range of motion; the Japanese version of the Patient-Rated Wrist Evaluation (PRWE-J); the Japanese version of Disability of the Arm, Shoulder, and Hand (DASH); and the Japanese version of the Michigan Hand Outcomes Questionnaire (MHQ-J)

1) Individuals who have provided informed consent
2) Individuals who possess a valid driver's license and drive regularly
1) Patients with multiple fractures (in the patient group)
2) Individuals with a history of upper limb trauma or central nervous system disorders
3) Individuals who are unable to understand the study content due to dementia or other cognitive impairments
