To comprehensively explore and map the definitions and measurement methods of maternal intention and actual practices regarding infant feeding.

The following study designs will be included:
cohort studies, cross-sectional studies, case series, case studies, qualitative studies (e.g., interviews, focus groups), and interventional studies if they include descriptions of the definition or measurement of maternal intention or actual feeding practices.

Data sources and search strategy
All available literature published between January 1, 2010, and May 26, 2025, will be systematically searched using the following electronic databases: PubMed, CINAHL, the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials in the Cochrane Library, and Ichushi-Web (Japan Medical Abstracts Society database).
In all databases, the search will include terms related to "breastfeeding," "mixed feeding," and "formula feeding."
Selection of studies in included studies:
Two review authors will independently check to ensure that studies meet the inclusion criteria. Any discrepancies in study selection will be resolved by discussion or discussion with a third author.
