Narrative objectives1
The femoral nerve block is one of the important nerve block techniques for surgical and pain management; however, performing it under ultrasound guidance requires advanced skills. Accurate identification of the femoral nerve is particularly challenging for beginners or less experienced physicians, and mastering the technique takes time.
In recent years, with the advancement of artificial intelligence technologies, there has been a growing interest in applying machine learning and deep learning to the analysis of ultrasound images. YOLO (You Only Look Once), a fast and highly accurate object detection algorithm, is gaining attention and is expected to be applied in the medical field.
In this study, since simply acquiring ultrasound images causes no physical harm to the patient, we aim to automatically detect the femoral nerve using YOLO. This approach seeks to improve the accuracy of nerve block procedures and reduce the burden on physicians.

Key inclusion criteria
Surgical patients undergoing procedures at our hospital who receive femoral nerve blocks for perioperative analgesia
Key exclusion criteria
Cases in which the attending anesthesiologist is unable to identify the femoral nerve will be excluded from the study.
