The search detabases used were PubMed, CINAHL, PsycINFO, Cochrane Library, the Igaku Chuo Zasshi and CiNii. In addetion, related studies will be investigated through reference lists, and major academic journals will be searched manually. The search terms were child* OR adolescent* OR youth OR preschool* AND sibling* OR siblings* OR brother* OR sister* AND disability* OR "long-term condition*" OR "chronic condition*" OR "Neurodevelopmental Disorders*" OR "Learning disability*" OR "profound disability*" AND support OR intervention* OR program* OR service* OR "Self-Help Groups*" AND assessment OR measure* OR evaluation OR outcome* OR "Self report*" OR "Outcome Assessment".
The inclusion criteria were as follows: the study conducted on assessment of social support for siblings of children with disabilities. Children with disabilities included children with chronic conditions, and social support included family support. the study was written in Japanese or English. Publication years were limited to those after 2000 in consideration of social changes.
The exclusion criteria were as follows: the study was an academic conference abstract, commentary, special feature and studies focusing on a single condition
