The following electronic databases will be used to systematically search for all published papers: PubMed, CINAHL, the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials in the Cochrane Library, and Scopus. In addition, related studies will be investigated through reference lists, and major academic journals will be searched manually.

To develop the search strategy, researchers with expertise in dyspnea, psychotherapy, and systematic reviews will identify relevant keywords. The final version of the search strategy will first be applied to the PubMed database and then adapted for use in other databases.

This study will investigate mindfulness breathing techniques, guided imagery, progressive muscle relaxation, and meditation. In the first screening, four independent reviewers will examine the titles and abstracts of all articles obtained through the database search. In the second screening, the full texts of the articles selected in the first screening will be independently reviewed by the four reviewers. If the relevance of a paper is unclear during the screening stages, or if there is disagreement among the four reviewers, a meeting will be held to discuss the differences in opinion. If the issue remains unresolved after the discussion, a fifth reviewer will make the final decision.
