Narrative objectives1

The goal is to establish new connections between local elderly residents and university students, thereby strengthening the health support system for the elderly and enhancing community ties.
1) Address regional challenges such as the lack of a comprehensive health support system (physical, mental, and social) and the decline in community connections for elderly residents through visits by students from Akita International University.
2) Provide Akita International University students with opportunities to learn from real-world experiences while fostering relationships and a sense of attachment to the community, encouraging them to settle or revisit the region in the medium to long term.

University students will conduct regular visits to the homes of targeted elderly residents or meet them at community centers to monitor their health and engage in social interaction.
-Health Monitoring: In addition to casual conversations, students will assess the health status of the elderly using a designated questionnaire.
-Health Check-Up Events: Biannual health check-up events will be held at community centers, where questionnaires and vital data will be collected.
-Coordination for Abnormal Findings: If any abnormalities are detected, the students will coordinate with the Community Comprehensive Support Center or local welfare commissioners to request appropriate support.
-Promoting Interaction: Simultaneously, efforts will be made to encourage meaningful interactions between the students and the elderly residents.
