Interventions/Control_1

The HIICT consists of alternating intermittent 20-s running periods on a treadmill (for the 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th bouts) and 20-s bicycle ergometer exercises (2nd, 4th, and 6th bouts). The bouts are separated by a 10-s rest period. These intensities correspond to an oxygen demand of -160% and -170% of the VO2max for the running and bicycling exercise, respectively. The training group perform this HIICT daily 4 days/week for 6 weeks.
