Narrative objectives1

The aim of this study is to investigate the degree of improvement in divergent thinking in healthy undergraduate and postgraduate students before and after different VR video viewing experiences. If this study can elucidate the factors that contribute to improved divergent thinking, it may help those who need higher intellectual productivity in their lives and work.

Study subjects watch VR videos. The intervention group watches a starry sky video. The duration of the VR video is 8 minutes.

Key inclusion criteria

(a) Aged between 20 and 30 years
(b) Able to view VR moving images without wearing glasses
(c) Able to understand and respond to instructions in Japanese

Key exclusion criteria

(a) People with a history of divergent thought training
(b) People prone to motion sickness
(c) People taking psychotropic drugs
(d) People with a history of neurological disorders
(e) People with a history of mental illness
