1) The patient must have a diagnosis of dementia
2) Oral care must be for the purpose of oral hygiene
3) Oral care intervention methods must be described
4) Language must be English or Japanese
Key exclusion criteria
1) Duplicate references.
2) Must be causative treatment (e.g., tooth extractions)
3) Must be review literature or gray literature

Data sources and search strategy
A comprehensive literature search was conducted to identify oral care provided to persons with dementia. For the literature search, we plan to use the electronic databases Medical Journal Web, PubMed, and CINAHL to search all literature reported up to August 31, 2024, using "dementia" and "oral care" as keywords.
Selection of studies in included studies
Two review authors will independently check to ensure that studies meet the inclusion criteria. Any discrepancies in study selection will be resolved by discussion or discussion with a third author.
