Other related information
We will search literatures using PubMed and Web of Science to identify studies that have investigated the association between egg intake and the occurrence of cardiovascular events for the period up to September 2023. The search terms were: eggs, cardiovascular events, cardiovascular disease, cohort studies, case-control studies, observational studies. Additionally, manually search the reference list for relevant articles.
We will include research papers that evaluate the effect of egg intake on cardiovascular events, but exclude reviews, conference proceedings, and non-English papers.
Two researchers will independently screen the literature based on titles and abstracts, and perform a full text review of the extracted research articles. Disagreements regarding literature selection will be resolved through discussion with a third researcher.
This systematic literature review follows the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) methodology.
