Objectives

Narrative objectives1

Exhaustive exercise increases blood lactate concentrations, which in turn releases hydrogen ions. Oxidation in the body due to high hydrogen ions is considered to be a contributing factor to muscle fatigue. Light exercise after exercise is effective in removing lactic acid, but it is difficult to perform light exercise during exhaustion at competition venues. The foam roller has been attracting attention as a conditioning prescription that promotes muscle activity and blood flow regardless of location, but it may also be effective in removing lactic acid after exhaustive exercise.
