*This study is not subject to ethical review as it is a literature review. The date entered under 'Date of approval by ethics review' is the date the protocol was finalised.
This study will be conducted in accordance with the reporting guidelines for scoping reviews (PRISMA-ScR). The electronic databases used to search the overseas literature are Pubmed, CINAHL, Cochran Library and PsycINFO, while Medical Journal Web and CiNii Research are used to search the Japanese literature. The search formula is given below. The retrieved literature is screened for duplicates using Rayyan and then independently screened in three stages by two reviewers.
A list of accepted literature is prepared. Data on the effects of music therapy on terminally ill patients in experimental studies are extracted from the selected literature and the effects are inductively classified in terms of similarities and differences. Consolidate, organise and describe the results of each literature according to the classification.
