The present study was designed to investigate the time from the first operation to the late metastasis and its association with prognosis.

Key inclusion criteria
Patients who received surgery-based treatment for oral squamous cell carcinoma between 1 June 2008 and 31 March 2021 at the Department of Oral Surgery, Nagasaki University Hospital, in accordance with the NCCN guidelines, and who had late metastase
Key exclusion criteria
Cases where medical information records are poorly documented and insufficient information is available.
