It is not clear whether n-6 or n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids and trans-unsaturated fatty acids are associated with the development of colorectal cancer. A systematic review and meta-analysis of whether exposure to individual n-3 and n-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids and their combinations and individual trans-unsaturated fatty acids and their combinations affect colorectal cancer development, including dietary assessment methods and biomarker types.

Search strategy:
We will conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis in according with review and meta-analysis in according with PRISMA statement. We will search databases(MEDLINE, Embase, Ovid, the Cochrane Library, J-stage).
Strategy for data synthesis:
Identify sets of the fatty acid exposures that allow meta-analysis with 5 estimates or more. Meta-analyses will include random-effects meta-analysis for categories of PUFA exposures, a linear dose-response meta-analysis, and non-linear dose-response meta-analysis. Biomarkers and dietary intakes will be separated. Relative risk and 95% confidence intervals will be estimated after harmonisation of exposure levels and corresponding association measures.
Meta-regression will be performed to identify any heterogeneity of associations by population characteristics .
We will attempt to obtain additional information by contacting authors of published articles so that we do not need to exposure because of missing information that should have been reported.
