Narrative objectives1	The purpose of this study was to compare the persuasive effects of messages that stimulate the desire to avoid illness and those that stimulate other fundamental needs on health behavior, and to examine the usefulness of health messages that take into account the fundamental and central needs of modern Japanese people.
