Outcomes were changes in scores on Catherine Bergego Scale (CBS) and reaction time on the modified Posner task (MPT). There was significant improvement in CBS score change after VR balloon retrieval training. In the invalid condition of MPT, significant improvements were shown after VR balloon search training in left-sided reaction time (improvement of stimulation-driven attention).

Inclusion criteria were as follows: (1) first-ever stroke, (2) no severe cognitive impairment (Mini-Mental State Examination), (3) right hemisphere brain lesion, and (4) at least a score below the cutoff value in one item of the standard test for the behavioural inattention test conventional subtests (BIT-c).
Exclusion criteria were as follows: (1) left hemisphere brain lesion, (2) bilateral lesions, (3) previous stroke, (4) Aphasia or other cognitive impairments, (5) disturbance of consciousness, and (6) patients refusal to participate.
We recruited participants from the Rehabilitation Department of our Hospital between January 2020 and December 2021. Patients were screened at the point of admission to the rehabilitation department within the hospital. The participants were divided into two groups: immediate VR group (n=14) and delayed VR group (n=14).

(1) Behavioural Inattention test conventional subtests (BIT-c) were used to determine USN. A line cancellation test, copying test, line bisection test, and drawing test are included in the basic evaluation. The total score is 146 points.
(2) The Catherine Bergego Scale (CBS) is an observation scale for assessment of neglect in 10 real-life situations/tasks, and is administered by a blinded physical therapist, occupational therapist, and nurse. Each item of the 10 categories in CBS attracts a score of either 0 (no neglect) or 3 (severe neglect); the maximum total score is 30 points.
(3) The modified Posner task (MPT) is a neuropsychological test used to assess changes in attention. This task reacts to the target displayed in either the left or right position.
