PD patients with age above 50 years, of any gender, and caregivers with age above 18 years, of any gender were considered for inclusion
Excluded from enrollment were caregiver participants of Vascular PD (VP) or Parkinson plus syndrome (PPS) patients, and caregiver participants who refused consent, or with known history of sleep disorders and/or medications, psychiatric disorders and/or medications and medical conditions causing sleep problem including -but not limited to- thyroid or hepatic disorders.

The study was conducted on Egyptian caregivers and their patients diagnosed with IPD according to UK Parkinson's Disease Society Brain Bank Clinical Diagnostic Criteria5 presented to movement disorders clinic at Kasralainy hospital in period from May 2019 to April 2020. Caregiver was defined in our study according to NCI Dictionary of Cancer Terms as the person who gives care to PD patient who need help taking care of themselves, and may be health professionals, family members, friends, social workers, or members of the clergy. They may give care at home or in a hospital or other health care setting.
Those PD patients with age above 50 years, of any gender, and caregivers with age above 18 years, of any gender were considered for inclusion. Excluded from enrollment were caregiver participants of Vascular PD (VP) or Parkinson plus syndrome (PPS) patients, and caregiver participants who refused consent, or with known history of sleep disorders and/or medications, psychiatric disorders and/or medications and medical conditions causing sleep problem including -but not limited to- thyroid or hepatic disorders.
