Narrative objectives1 The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of zinc acetate for prevention of mucositis associated with radiotherapy in patients with head and neck cancer, and compare the grade of mucositis with histirical control.

Interventions/Control_1 oral medication of zinc acetate.medication starts from the beginning of radiation therapy.medication dose is 100mg/day,range 25-150mg associated with side effect of zinc acetate.medication period is 6-7weeks during radiation therapy.

20 years-old <=

Gender Male and Female
Key inclusion criteria 1) WHO PS 0-2
2) Advanced head and neck cancer,oral cavity is irradiated
3) Treated by radiotherapy and concomitant chemotherapy with cisplatin
4) Onset of mucositis is certain
5) Not diagnosted as dementia
6) Satisfy the diagnostic criteria of zinc deficiency(clinical and subclinical) advocated by japanese society of clinical nutrition
Key exclusion criteria 1) Patients that subjective examination is difficult(i.e. patient with dementia, under 19 years old)
2) Patients under life-threatening situation.
3) Patients who is assesed by researcher as ungrammatical for this study
