Reminiscence therapy is one of the psychotherapy known to have mood improving effect on the dementia and depressed subjects. However, the neural mechanisms underlying that effect remain unknown. The objectives of this study were to reveal 1) the neural correlates of mood improving effect, 2) the effect of emotional valence (positive or negative) at the time of experiencing on the neural correlates of reminiscence, and 3) the aging effect of these neural correlates.
