The aims of the study are 1) to examine whether the intervention using the Balance Exercise Assistance Robot (BEAR) in addition to usual rehabilitation program improve the balance in patients with hemiparetic stroke compared with usual rehabilitation alone, 2) to examine whether the additive effects of the balance training using the BEAR is superior than that of the conventional balance training.

Male and Female
1)Consent to participate in the study
2)Age between 40 and 80 years
3)First-ever hemiparetic stroke, from 1 to 3 months after the onset of stroke.
4)Weight, 35 - 100kg; height, 140 - 190cm.
5)No apparent paralysis in the unaffected limbs.
6)No severe contractures, and deformity in the lower limbs
7)Able to stand still on the BEAR
8)The score of the Functional Ambulation Categories is 2 or more.
1)Inability to follow instructions due to aphasia and/or cognitive deficits.
2)Medical conditions that might deteriorate with exercise.
3)Physical conditions that might disturb the safe training,
4)The score of the Mini-BESTest is 25 points or more
5)The patients who are judged as inappropriate for participating in the study by his/her physician.
