| Key inclusion criteria | (1)Diagnosis of rectal cancer in preoperative pathology (tissue type does not matter).
(2) Case of rectal cancer after CRT in a preoperative diagnosis of A ,AI or Dukes C are diagnosed (Japanese Classification of Colorectal Carcinoma the 7th edition) and the cases that made the CRT. (3) presence or absence of distant metastases does not matter (4) presence or absence of primary tumor resection does not matter |

| Results | The completion rate of CRT was high at 94% (n?=?29/31). The downstaging rate of CRT was 61% (n?=?19/31). The pathological complete response rate was 6.5% (n?=?2/31). Significant differences were observed in the 3-year local recurrence rate between the two groups (P?<?0.05).

| Other related information | We evaluate the efficacy of preoperative chemo-radiation therapy for the lower rectal cancer in our department between 2009 and 2013. We examine treatment results (patient factors, pathology factors, surgery factors, prognosis)
This study is a retrospective cohort study to evaluate the rate of 3 years local control. |
