Objectives

Narrative objectives1

This study aims to identify MASLD by determining an appropriate cutoff value for alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and to explore predictive factors for its presence. In addition, using anonymized data from individuals who have undergone health checkups at least twice, we will analyze risk factors associated with the development of MASLD and other metabolic diseases.

Assessment

Primary outcomes

1. Determine the optimal cutoff value of alanine aminotransferase (ALT) for screening MASLD.
2. Identify predictive factors for the presence of MASLD.
3. Identify predictive factors for the onset and progression of MASLD.
4. Identify predictive factors for the development and progression of metabolic diseases.

Other

Other related information

In this community-based study, we review the medical records of Japanese subjects (age range, 18-90 years), who had undergone annual health checkup between April 2003 and March 2025. The annual health checkup includes recording the subject's lifestyle habits, medical history, and history of prescribed medication; conducting a physical examination; and measuring anthropometric and routine biochemical variables. We explore predictive factors for MASLD and metabolic disease.
