The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of splenectomy on survival outcomes and recurrence in patients who underwent curative surgery for gastric cancer.This is a cohort study of the patients who underwent upper-third gastric cancer curative resection with lymphadenectomy. Gastric cancer of all patients was pathologically staged using TNM classification published in affiliation with the International Union Against Cancer (UICC).
