a continuous glucose monitoring system (CGMS® System GoldTM, Medtronic Inc) is installed from the 2nd or 3rd hospital day to measure blood glucose fluctuations. A peripheral arterial tonometry (PAT) device (EndoPAT2000, Itamar Medical Ltd, Caesarea, Israel) is used to measure the reactive hyperemia index (RHI) on the 3rd or 4th hospital day in order to evaluate the vascular endothelial function.
