各歯科関連嗅覚刺激に対する主観的情動評価。Numerical Rating Scale（NRS）を用いて、「怖さ」および「嫌悪感」を評価する。主要解析では、歯科関連刺激に対する各評価値について、DFSスコアとの関連および歯科恐怖群と対照群の差を検討する。評価時点は各刺激提示直後とする。

Subjective emotional ratings of each dental-related olfactory stimulus. Numerical Rating Scales (NRS) will be used to assess fear and aversion. The primary analysis will examine the association of ratings for dental-related stimuli with DFS scores and differences between the dental-fear and control groups. Ratings will be obtained immediately after each odor presentation.

1) Electrodermal activity: changes in skin conductance level, skin conductance responses, or phasic activity from the pre-stimulus baseline during a prespecified post-stimulus time window. 2) Heart rate: changes from baseline during and after odor presentation. 3) Additional subjective ratings, including pleasantness/unpleasantness, liking, intensity, familiarity, odor identification, and arousal. 4) Psychological measures, including the DFS, Dental Anxiety Scale, measures of previous unpleasant dental experiences, anxiety traits, sensory-processing characteristics, and health-related quality of life.

参加者に、あらかじめ定めた歯科関連嗅覚刺激、好ましい嗅覚刺激、好ましくない嗅覚刺激および対照刺激を提示する。歯科関連刺激には、ユージノール、グアヤコール、レジンモノマー、および次亜塩素酸ナトリウム等を含む。好ましい刺激にはアロマを含み、好ましくない刺激にはスカトールとイソ吉草酸を含む。対照刺激には蒸留水等を用いる。各刺激は原則として約10秒間提示し、刺激間には十分な休止時間を設ける。提示直後に主観的評価を実施し、提示中およびその前後に心拍数と皮膚電気活動を連続測定する。

Participants will be exposed to a predefined set of dental-related, pleasant, unpleasant, and control olfactory stimuli. Dental-related stimuli include eugenol, guaiacol, resin monomer, and sodium hypochlorite. Pleasant stimuli will include selected aroma, and unpleasant stimuli will include skatole and isovaleric acid. Distilled water or an equivalent minimally odorous stimulus will be used as the control. Each odor will generally be presented for approximately 10 seconds, with an adequate inter-stimulus rest interval. Subjective ratings will be obtained immediately after each presentation, and heart rate and electrodermal activity will be recorded continuously before, during, and after odor presentation.

1）同意取得時に18歳以上60歳未満、2）歯科治療経験を有する健康成人、3）研究内容を理解し、文書による自由意思の同意が得られる者。

除外基準/Key exclusion criteria

1）慢性副鼻腔炎、アレルギー性鼻炎、感冒その他の嗅覚に影響する疾患を有する者、2）嗅覚、中枢神経活動または自律神経活動に影響する可能性のある薬剤を服用している者、3）現在、薬物療法またはその他の治療により歯科恐怖が抑制されている者、4）精神疾患の既往歴がある者、5）研究責任者が安全またはデータ品質の観点から不適当と判断した者。

1) Chronic sinusitis, allergic rhinitis, common cold, or another condition affecting olfactory function; 2) use of medication that may affect olfactory, central nervous, or autonomic function; 3) current pharmacological or other treatment that suppresses dental fear; 4) a history of psychiatric disorders; or 5) judged unsuitable by the principal investigator for reasons of safety or data quality.

本研究は、健康成人を対象とした単施設の探索的研究であり、研究目的で複数の嗅覚刺激を提示し、各刺激に対する主観的情動評価、心拍数および皮膚電気活動を反復測定する。すべての参加者は同一の嗅覚刺激プロトコールを受ける。歯科恐怖群と対照群は介入群ではなく、Dental Fear Survey（DFS）スコア（カットオフ値52：日本人平均値＋1SD）に基づき、統計解析時に分類する解析上の群とする。本研究では主観的評価および生理学的評価を取得するが、それぞれ異なる研究目的および解析仮説に基づき解析し、必要に応じて別個の論文として報告する予定である。

This is a single-center exploratory study in which healthy adults will be exposed to multiple olfactory stimuli for research purposes, with repeated measurements of subjective emotional ratings, heart rate, and electrodermal activity. All participants will undergo the same standardized olfactory stimulus protocol. Participants will not be assigned to intervention groups. Instead, they will be categorized into dental fear and control groups during statistical analysis according to their Dental Fear Survey (DFS) scores (cut-off value: 52, corresponding to the Japanese population mean + 1 standard deviation). Although both subjective and physiological outcomes will be collected in this study, they address different research objectives and analytical hypotheses and may therefore be reported in separate peer-reviewed journal articles.
