近年、生活習慣の変化に伴い、肝臓に脂肪がたまる「脂肪性肝疾患」が世界的に増加しています。脂肪性肝疾患は、放置すると肝硬変や肝がんなどの重篤な肝障害に進行することがあり、社会的にも重要な健康課題となっています。
これまでの分類では「非アルコール性脂肪性肝疾患（NAFLD）」が主に用いられてきましたが、近年、新たに「代謝機能障害関連脂肪性肝疾患（MASLD）」「代謝機能障害関連脂肪肝炎（MASH）」「代謝機能障害アルコール関連肝疾患（MetALD）」「アルコール関連肝疾患（ALD）」という定義が提唱され、生活習慣病との関連をより的確に捉える概念として注目されています。
しかし、東アジア地域におけるMASLD, MASH, MetALD, ALDの特徴や診断の有用性、合併症との関連については、十分に明らかになっていません。
本研究では、日本・韓国・台湾における健診受診者のデータを総合的に解析し、脂肪性肝疾患の有病率、臨床像、合併症、経過および予後を明らかにすることを目的としています。これにより、地域特性を踏まえた早期発見・予防法や治療戦略の確立に貢献することを目指します。

The global prevalence of fatty liver disease has been increasing with lifestyle changes, and it can progress to cirrhosis or hepatocellular carcinoma if untreated. Recently, new definitions, MASLD, MASH, MetALD, and ALD have been proposed to better reflect the link with metabolic dysfunction. However, their characteristics and clinical relevance in East Asian populations remain unclear.
This study analyzes health check-up data from Japan, Korea, and Taiwan to clarify the prevalence, clinical features, comorbidities, and outcomes of fatty liver disease, aiming to establish region-specific strategies for its early detection and management.

選択基準/Key inclusion criteria

本研究は2013年4月1日から2029年3月31日（予定）までに、性別を問わない、愛知健康増進財団、大同病院（だいどうクリニック健診センター、中央クリニック、DAIDO MEDICAL SQUARE）、大垣市民病院、山下病院、豊田厚生病院に健診を受診した18歳以上の方を対象としています。
また同様に2013年4月1日から2029年3月31日（予定）までに、性別を問わない、Chung-Ang University Hospital（韓国）, Korea University College of Medicine Hospital（韓国）, National Taiwan University Hospital（台湾）を受診した18歳以上の方を対象としています。

Participants aged over 18 years who underwent health check-ups between April 1, 2013, and March 31, 2029 (planned) at collaborating institutions in Japan (Aichi Health Promotion Foundation, Daido Hospital group, Ogaki Municipal Hospital, Yamashita Hospital, and Toyota Kosei Hospital), Korea (Chung-Ang University Hospital and Korea University College of Medicine Hospital), and Taiwan (National Taiwan University Hospital) are included in this study.
