COVID-19の初発患者1,001,509人とインフルエンザの初発患者207,090人を対象に解析した。家庭内伝播割合は12歳未満の初発患者からの伝播が最も高く、COVID-19では40.17%、インフルエンザでは33.51%であった。小児からの感染が両疾患共に特に高く、伝播した家族の年齢との組み合わせ解析では両疾患ともに小児からおよび小児への伝播割合が高いことが示された。COVID-19では成人間の伝播割合が高いことも示された。

A total of 1,001,509 index patients with COVID-19 and 207,090 with influenza met the inclusion criteria. Transmission rates were highest among index patients aged <12 years (COVID-19, 40.17%; influenza, 33.51%). Transmission from children was disproportionately high, while age-combination analysis demonstrated elevated transmission both from and to children for both diseases. COVID-19 exhibited increased transmission among adults.

両群において、12歳未満の小児が初発患者の大部分を占めていた。抗ウイルス薬の投与に関しては、インフルエンザ感染症で大幅に多く両疾患の間で顕著な違いが見られた。

In both cohorts, children younger than 12 years constituted the largest proportion of index patients. Marked differences between the two diseases were noted with respect to antiviral drug administration, which was substantially more common among influenza cases.

2021年11月から2023年8月の間にJMDCに登録されていた6,654,363名から、COVID-19およびインフルエンザの診断が無い登録者、同居家族がいない登録者、診断時に入院していた登録者などを除外した、COVID-19初発患者1,001,509名、インフルエンザ初発患者207,099名を解析対象とした。

Of the 6,654,363 people registered in JMDC between November 2021 and August 2023, 1,001,509 COVID-19 index patients and 207,099 influenza index patients were analyzed, excluding those without diagnosis of COVID-19 or influenza, those without family members in the same household, and those hospitalized on the day of diagnosis.
